The Kent Coast It's rugged, it's beautiful, and it's as varied as a coastline can be. Head north-east, and you'll wander through delightful East Kent towns. Try a plate of oysters in Whitstable and watch the little fishing boats... head up the coast to Herne Bay for watersports or just a coffee in Macaris... move on to Margate for sandcastles and candy floss, the full seaside experience. Then drive on to Ramsgate, a bustling harbour with yachts, boats, wine bars and coffee shops. End your East Kent tour in the delightful town of Sandwich, enjoying one of the most attractive market towns in Britain.

The lonely Coast Alternvatively, head down to Dungeness. The scenery here is stunning. It's desolate, it's remote, but it's got a beauty unsurpassed in this corner of England. Don't forget to stop off at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, near Folkestone, a great day out for all the family. Why not take the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Miniature Railwayto Dungness. Try and sit in the carriage that contains a licensed bar - you'll be glad you did! |
Of course many people use Kent as a base for going further afield altogether. The Continent, London... they're all easily accessible... |
