Mundy Bois is a tiny hamlet just outside Pluckley. The area is recorded in 1327 as Boys and appears to have been owned by William and Robert Monde (1450), who also gave their name to Monday House in neighbouring Pluckley.
But why was it called 'Boys'? Rumour has it, the name came from Napoleonic Prisoners of War. They called it Bois, a French word for 'wood'.

It's a beautiful little hamlet, mainly given over to farming. There are walks, off-road riding and footpaths everywhere, including the famous Greensand Way, which runs right through Elvey Farm. |
| And of course, there's the Mundy Bois Pub which is well worth a visit. A delicious menu, friendly staff, log fires - and dogs are welcome too. Be sure to make this your first stop... you'll probably find us in there too! |
Once you've acquainted yourselves with the pub, and walked across some of the farmland, you're probably ready to try Pluckley. By car, it's just five minutes away.....
